Well, for one thing you expect everyone to bow down and blow Rivera.
Second, you expect Papeldong to not have confidence in himself.
Third, Papeldong is from Boston, Rivera from NY. If I were a Boston fan, I'd be pissed if Papeldong didn't utilize every chance to bag on Rivera.

I am sure that the red sox players look up to alot of the hall of fame yankees, if they are a great player no matter what team they are from you should respect them...Mariano is obviously a future hall of famer so respect the guy, like beast said he the best ever...and im so impressed you have the mind of a closer

He didn't disrespect him. He didn't say I'm better than Mariano. He just said he would want the ball. Theres not a dang thing wrong with it.

yes so that means papelbon has a lot more all star games and i dont know how much history you can really make as a closer in an allstar game...so why not accept the fact that youre not gonna get it over the best closer all time, in his own stadium and that being the last all star game there might be his last regardless...but hey thanks for putting it in perspective for me

I don't care what Papelbon said and I'm a huge Yankees fan! I don't care if superman was in the bullpen getting ready I would still rather me close a game before anyone else! So I can see where Papelbon is coming from!
